Kekere Co-op is proud and humbled to be grown from the ancestral land of the Council of Three Fires, commonly known as Ypsilanti, Michigan. Kekere is inspired by the Freedom Schools of the Civil Rights Movement, the wisdom and resilience of our ancestors and love for our grandchildren’s grandchildren. Our community is specifically designed to affirm families which include Black children, Indigenous children, all children of the global majority and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks. All families who are committed to liberation and love are welcome in our community. What kind of curriculum do you use? We have designed a unique curriculum that harvests the wisdom of our ancestors and inspires the creativity and critical thinking of our youth. We believe in learning that is self-directed and community-oriented and support children and families in delving deeply into their curiosities and passions. Our curriculum a holistic approach to learning, and embodies our commitment to decolonize wisdom, knowledge and understanding. |
